Online DVD rentals for Canadians

26 01 2005

I was looking through a list of Canadian online DVD rental companies that are out there and here’s what I’ve found. I know that zip is the most popular but was wondering if anyone had input on the others or knew of more that I don’t have here…

Godfather marathon & Mouse extermination

26 01 2005

Mouse houseOn Saturday our friend Mike had some of his friends over to our place as we pounded through all 3 of the Godfather films. My favorite still being the 2nd, then 1st, then 3rd. Between the movies we took break for pasta supper and some Halo action on the Xbox to get into the spirit of things. That’s the first real theme based marathon night that I actually stayed awake during the whole of it for – that’s from 3:30pm to 2am – whew!

Since we’ve moved into our new place we’ve had various mouse encounters. First we found some under our kitchen cupboards eating our garbage, I was able to dispatch of that band of ruffians. After those though, there have been a few that sound like little mic miners working under the floating floor of our basement. I put some traps up where I suspected they were going for food, where their terds were and where most of the noise came from but they never bit. Yesterday they were making more rock-moving noises so I decided to investigate more wholeheartedly and actually take apart some floors. When I took up the floor that is in the area under our stairs I found a whole lot of rocks that they’ve been moving. I have no idea what they’re tearing apart but I don’t like the looks of it so I set all of my best traps on the job. Notice I even have a rat-trap in there just in case. Oh, how I long to be rid of these critters.

Riddle of today

19 01 2005

Here’s a little riddle that I got wrong – add a comment to leave your answer.

To help solve an acute national over-population problem a government issues a radical decree that families should stop having children as soon as they have had a son. After awhile, there are some families with only one boy, some with one girl and one boy, some with two girls and one boy, some with three girls and one boy, some with six girls and one boy, etc., and some families who only have girls and give up trying for a son. Would boys tend to outnumber girls in this generation? or vice versa?

Canadian Prescription Drugs

17 01 2005

From CBC; regarding the Simpsons trip to Canada to get cheap prescription drugs…

An aging “Johnny Canuck” provided the foursome with phony health cards, promising they could get “enough drugs to make Regina look like Saskatoon.”

From Napolean Dynamite – [Kip is singing to Lafawnduh after they are pronounced husband and wife]

Why do you love me? Why do you need me? Always and forever… We met in a chatroom, now our love can fully bloom… Sure the world wide web is great, but you, you make my salivate… I love technology, but not as much as you, you see… But I STILL love technology… Always and forever. Our love is like a flock of doves, flying up to heaven above… always and forever, always and forever… Why do you need me? Why do you love me? Always and forever…

Lyf’s back, baby!

12 01 2005

It’s time for me to bring back my bamboo frame – I love that thing! Also, I stole a picture without permission for the background of my page from http://www.lilywing.com/home.html and the actual picture is at http://www.lilywing.com/wall1024/mh-hibisc1024.jpg.

Lyf has updated his page with some new shots (after about 16 months) including the beautiful one of him and Jennifer above; i really don’t know what this is about. I also found a long lost high school friend has a website at johnandjennifer.ca.

You’ve probably seen these before but they really crack me up. They’re from Despair.com and these are some of my favorites…

Procrastination – Hard work often pays off after time, but laziness always pays off now
Indifference – it takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn’t take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face
Pretension – The downside to being better than everyone else is that people tend to assume you’re pretentious
Failure – When your best just isn’t good enough
Ineptitude – If you can’t learn to do something well, learn to enjoy doing it poorly
Regret – It hurts to admit when you make mistakes – but when they’re big enough, the pain only lasts a second.
