There is a great webpage that’s devoted to all things 8-bit Nintendo with almost 300 old NES games to play. I had some good times playing some of the MegaMan games and I’m sure you’ll have a good time finding an old favorite.
SLC > MSP - I can like Soderbergh, I want to like Carano and the supporting cast is pretty awesome but this movie felt like a big miss. The acting was not great (that was expected), the story was incomprehensible and could only be traced by action scene to action scene and the characters were very under-developed. The stunts were (probably) all done by Carano which for the fighting scenes was pretty cool but lots of the other stuff felt like it could have been better. All told, I'd love to see her in more movies (or a tv show) even though this one was not that great.
Good performances, interesting characters, good location, and a simple story well told. All that said, I liked it, but I didn't love it. Best quote was, "Give you kids enough money to do something but not enough to do nothing."
Documentary about the rise of Air Guitar in the States and it's popularity worldwide. The first few minutes it seems to be really bizarre to be taken so seriously but by the end it begins to seem much more normal.
I spotted a video from a guy in Michigan who claims that he has figured out a way that the ancient civilaizations could have made Stonehenge with primitive instruments. To prove it, he’s going to make a Stonehenge on his property with his own muscle and some smarts – no pulleys, levers or other powered devices.
This was my favorite optical illusion on a page full of winners – here are the instructions…
Stare at the white dot in the centre of the red circle. The longer – the better (two minutes and you’ll get a much stronger effect). Always try to keep focused on the white dot. It’ll be worth it.
Soon after staring, you’ll start to see a thin rim of light around the edge. Don’t stop staring though yet! Wait another minute – keeping your head perfectly still.
Once you’ve done this, very slowly – move your head backwards – making sure to keep your eyes focused on the dot at all times. The circle’s rim will glow brilliantly with true Cyan! Keep on moving your head slowly backwards, and witness the Eclipse of Mars!…
Sometimes, I find it hard to know if I should put UPDATES on old listing with petty information like this posting or just make a whole new one. I’m guessing my regular reader (thanks Chris!) wouldn’t mind the new entries so he doesn’t have to troll through old stuff but it does make it seem busier… Anyways…
Not quite as sexy as a Mac but, the price was right
I did buy a new computer this week. Originally I bought the HP beauty from FS for $700 but then soon found that there was a better Compaq machine for the same price, so today I returned the HP and I’m now configuring the Compaq. Should be some good fun with the new machine!
I’ve also been finding that old computer parts are worth peanuts if you try to sell them, so I may just keep them around since no one wants to pay me for them. That means I have an almost second computer (just shy one motherboard)…
As per the “Terms of Agreement”, there is a disconnection charge between 3 months and 12 months. If the account was canceled a couple of days after 30 days, I may have been able to assist you or if you asked for an extension on the “Money Back”, it would not be an issue.
But in your case, you must pay the termination fee.
So, I guess that’s it for me. Note that I’d encourage everyone to not make the jump to VoIP and if you must do something like that try Skype.
My 5 year old computer has gotten tired. Lately, it’s been crashing a lot, and today it won’t boot after a crash. I played around with the RAM for a bit but fortunately, I did a big back up last week so I’m ok for data. What should I do, try to fix this beauty or buy a new one? Apple Chris?
UPDATE: I bought some new RAM from the store and that didn’t seem to help at all, it seems as though it’s the motherboard since nothing is coming up at all on a boot – looks like I’m going to be buying a new computer…
OK, so who can identify what is being shown in this puzzle piece? I found it while doing a clean up in the house and is probably from the previous owner. It may be easier to post your thoughts on the photo page itself (click on the picture) – Let me know what you think! I don’t actually know what the answer is, so you’ll need to be convincing!
UPDATE: Andy has provided a strong case that the picture belongs to the seven dwarfs of Snow White fame, even providing references, here and here. Nicely done buddy!
I found out that I was charged $50 by Vonage to cancel because I didn’t wait them out a whole year. So, in the spirit of complaining to get my way, I wrote them this letter…
I called this morning to cancel my Vonage phone line after having been with Vonage for about 8 months. During those 8 months I’ve solved an issue with call quality and in the previous weeks to my cancelling I was getting a lot of dropped calls (about 1 per 8 phone calls). I worked with Vonage technical support for a little while but they were unable to find a solution to this problem.
The reason I’m writing is that after I cancelled I received a $49.99 cancellation charge on my VISA. I talked with your first tier support and the lady there said that it was because I was a customer for less than 1 year. Question for you is, do I really have to put up with sub-par quality phone conversations for a whole year? What have you invested in me that you need $50 back from me?
In joining Vonage I was also required to purchase a $160 router from Vonage which I am not able to have refunded since I did not return it soon enough. It seems like I cancelled at the nether-time when I’m too late to return my router and too early to leave without fees.
I don’t think that I’ve ever been charged a fee to disconnect from a utility that I’ve subscribed to before. I understand that I can get charged when I hook up but getting charged when I’ve decided to leave is like getting a slap in the face.
Since the reason for my cancelling was poor quality coming from Vonage’s end, I believe I should not be charged this $50 cancellation fee and would therefore like it refunded. Please let me know what your decision is on this.
