John from the Movie Blog has a great post on the tragedy that is pre-movie advertisements. I am a huge hater of those ads because I paid for the movie – I don’t want ads – especially the ones telling me not to download movies (c’mon, I’m paying for this one!)
I don’t mind theaters making money off me when I get a product, service or entertainment in return… but commercials playing at 7pm when you told me the movie would be starting is doing nothing but STEALING my time. You are taking from me without giving anything in return. HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM ONLINE MOVIE PIRACY!?!?
When we download a movie without giving the movie industry anything in return, they call that a crime (and it is). But when the industry takes our time (sometimes up to 15 or 20 minutes) without giving us anything for that time in return they call it “smart marketing”.
How about I start calling pirating movies “Smart Shopping”. Will piracy be considered ok then?

Today, Radiohead came out with their revolutionary way to purchase their newest album, In Rainbows – all off the internet; and at whatever price you would like to pay for it. For me, I’m excited to get in there and do some purchasing, since they’re probably my favorite band and everything – problem is that their server is sooo sloooow. Hopefully they get that figured out and I can get listening to some great tunes.

It seems that Coca Cola is taking their fight for hydration beyond just the Nestea product all the way to their flagship product itself. They’ve informed me that with respect to hydration, every drop matters. It’s nice that Coke is hydrating me while at the same time injecting me with the sugar I need to keep going (oh, and a little salt to keep me thirsty, yum!). The problem with Coke though, is that it has got about 2X the sugar than even the health conscious Nestea at 30g compared to 17g. If you happen to get your 8 cups of hydration in with Coke, you’ll already be at 80% of your sugar intake for the day, what a way to burn all that precious sugar allotment.

So, with the TiCats recent loss to the Alouettes here in MTL, they’ve officially eliminated themselves from playoff contention for the year; hopefully they can improve on their 2-12 record though because that really stinks.
My second favorite team, Saskatchewan Roughriders, are really in the hunt for a playoff spot and gunning for the top of their conference; the problem is that they’re playing the not-playoff-bound-TiCats in 2 of their remaining 4 games and winning them would prove vital to their hosting a playoff game. I don’t know if I have the ability to cheer for a team playing the TiCats – even if I know it’s for the greater good of Sask’s advancement – I’m in a real loyalty pickle…

So, Heidi was singing to Saff the other day and I started laughing because Heidi got the words to “This little light of mine” so wrong, she was singing:
Hide it under a bushel, No!
I’m going to let it shine
What is a bushel, anyways?! I let her know that it is really supposed to be:
Hide it under a bush, oh no!
I’m going to let it shine
That makes sense!!
As things unfold though, I happen to be way wrong. I’m going to have to pay for this one…

I was talking with a friend from Singapore today who taught me a lot of things including the fact that Singapore isn’t a part of China (maybe I’m just stupid for not knowing that) and it’s in fact a city and a country; a city-state, so to speak…
From there I went on a wikipedia binge and found out a bunch of other neat things, like Point Roberts in the USA which happens to be below the 49th parallel so it’s in the States but they’ve got no land path to the main land (map) – they have to go through Vancouver are to get there – funny! Similar to that, there’s the Northwest Angle in Minnesota which is only accessible to the mainland USA by driving through Manitoba (map).
In the interest of keeping-it-real, we should grab those hot areas and make them part of Canada. Another place we should make part of Canada that has been thought of before, is the Turks and Caicos Islands. Politicians have been trying to turn it into a province, or a territory, or even a part of Nova Scotia but it hasn’t worked yet. Canada really needs a sunny destination and that would be a huge hit with us.
Last one – ever wonder what the band 54-40 name means? It’s all tied to the Oregan boundary dispute – good reading!
Ok, off to watch the Habs win their first game!

I was surfing around bmeink to look for some cool tattoo’s and saw this person sporting some Cartesian coordinates on her foot pointing to a tree – that’s a pretty sweet tree man.
Now, I have to find something as important as that tree is to her for me, this is going to require some thinking…
