Pepsi bringing pure sugar cola

Seems like my love for natural sweeteners is going to move to the mainstream, for a brief time at least. Pepsi is announcing that it’s going to put real sugar in its soda instead of the high fructose corn syrup. I wonder if that will make it taste as good as Jones Soda (Canadian – woo hoo!), which I love. I’ve been almost completely cutting pop out of my drinking schedule, not because I’m trying hard but because I’m craving it less and less; perhaps real sugar will bring me back in…

Movies I've watched recently:

YVR > SJC - kind of a zany concept but it works relatively well, not a great boxing movie but not too bad.

This movie came well recommended to me and it was a good, strange and profanity laced comedy. The main character was profound, confusing and yet remarkably consistent and believable. Some good lines in there and a nice change of pace from an action movie loaded with action to this one which seems to try to avoid it at every turn.

When a movie with a plot as benign as MLB drafting and trading using statistics instead of scouting intuition is this entertaining, you know they did something right. Great story that had both Heidi and I riveted to a sport that we really know and care very little about.

MSP > YVR - Solid acting in this action-drama, decent story, pretty good fight scenes and sympathetic characters. All in all, nicely done.

Ugh, this Christian movie was not worth watching. While it followed the plot of the Prodigal Son story closely, it seemed to lack all the great details that we had been learning about in the Prodigal God book study that we were going through. The acting was poor, most of the characters were poorly developed and the dialog was very local (to Texas) and didn't sound very natural to my Canadian ears.

Denver Mustang!

I was just in Denver last week and saw this huge sculpture while driving out and coming back to the airport. The thing I didn’t realize was that it actually killed its creator when it fell on him and severed an artery in his leg. Says one digger:

This mustang KILLED its own creator and managed to get away with it. How many cities can claim to have a murderous 32-foot-tall Mustang gracing the landscapes of their airports?

Funny. And much cooler than the George HW Bush statue in Houston.

Classic Quiksilver logo

Heidi was watching the movie Bustin Down the Door about the commercialization of surfing and how some of today’s power brands got started. One of those was Quiksilver and there was an picture of an advertisement with a copy of their old logo which Heidi would love to have on a shirt (she loves the 70′s feel of it).

I gotta compete with Chris’ constant U2 vids with some from my favorite band. With all those drummers, it’s no wonder that this has an amazing beat.
