It’s been crazy hot here in Vancouver and the nearby Fraser Valley for the last 3 or 4 days and Environment Canada says that there’s not anything foreseeable that’s going to take the heat away; so expect it to continue.
I’ve gotta send my thanks out to Dave for the donated AC window unit a year ago. I held onto it for a super hot streak just like this and it has helped keep my home office at a very reasonable temperature (about 25C = 77F). Thank you!
BTW – For my American reader, with Humidex, 45C = 113F.

On Saturday, the TiCats beat the Blue Bombers to bring their record over .500 for the first time since the end of the 2004 season – that’s 5 seasons ago; but that barely counts, just because one game stood at a tie to leave their season at 9-8-1. We’d probably have to look back to 2001 for a real winning season (at 11-7).
So far this year, the TiCats (2-1) have beat Winnipeg (1-2), BC (1-2) and lost to Toronto (1-2) putting them at second in the East; they haven’t been that high up in awhile…

A week or more ago, a small wind blew through our back yard, heaved our umbrella that was mounted in the middle of the back deck’s glass top table and when it leaned over, it brought the entire table top crashing and crumbling down with it. After cleaning glass shards out of the corners and nethers of our deck, I was committed to not having another glass top table and I thought for some reason that I might be able to actually put together a wood top one.
With some amazing tools from my brother and some ideas from the internets, I found the inspiration and the means to make myself a decent table top. I’m pretty happy with the final results seeing as how I haven’t made anything out of wood in a really long time but like any project, I feel like all the mistakes are glaring at me and anyone who looks at it.
Oh well. It will be a great place to have our sunny lunches and even with some decent wind; I’m not expecting this thing to crack…
