Netflix in Canada

As I briefly mentioned previously, Netflix has now arrived in Canada!

Currently, they’re only offering movies to download (mailing movies is their other mode of movie delivery) and on a quick search of their available movies, it looks pretty sparse so far. I’m hoping that they come out with some better movie selections or else that zip gets their act together and starts streaming.

I’d be excited to try this out but with their current selection, I think I’ll keep waiting it out.

    Documentary about the rise of Air Guitar in the States and it's popularity worldwide. The first few minutes it seems to be really bizarre to be taken so seriously but by the end it begins to seem much more normal.

    Far too slow with little plot at all. I understand that it was going for character development more so than plot but it seemed to just drop every character that it started a story with, the insomniac at the beginning, Ken, the drunkard and ultimately Mary who seemed to become the lead character by the end. No closure and way too little happening.

  • Higher Ground (2011) 8/10

    On Kevin's recommendation, Heidi and I watched this movie and we were glued to the screen throughout. It's the story of a woman's acceptance and struggle with her faith. I have no idea who I could recommend this to as it can be a bit crude for a Christian movie and a bit boring for those who like more' entertaining' movies. Nevertheless, her openness is powerful, "I gave my heart outright. I'm telling you today, I'm still waiting for Him to make Himself at home. I feel like I live in an empty place."

    YVR > SJC - kind of a zany concept but it works relatively well, not a great boxing movie but not too bad.

    This movie came well recommended to me and it was a good, strange and profanity laced comedy. The main character was profound, confusing and yet remarkably consistent and believable. Some good lines in there and a nice change of pace from an action movie loaded with action to this one which seems to try to avoid it at every turn.

Megaman Title completed

You can view some of my old megaman projects here but the latest one that I finished is the big header on the main sheet which brings this sheet to completion. This time, I made the pattern myself based off the title screen of the game (play it here!)

I actually started my next stage already (QuickMan) and have got a good amount done, so hopefully I’ll be able to post that completed stage in a few weeks.

Hamilton mounts 4th quarter comeback!

Hamilton hung around for the first three quarters and didn’t make big enough mistakes to eliminate themselves from the game which allowed them in the 4th quarter to turn the momentum and comeback by scoring a bunch of points and frustrating the offense of the Lions.

Thanks to Travis, I got tickets to see the game in person along with my parents, brother and nephews which was a lot of fun. The weather was cooperative, the atmosphere was energetic and the game was close, competitive and thoroughly entertaining. Congrats to the TiCats for going above .500 again and for beating a team other than Winnipeg and Toronto; I’m hoping they can improve their game and beat some of the better teams as well.

Ti Cats on a roll!

My Ti-Cats (5-4) have had a lot of bad years in a row but lately they’ve started to show a bit of promise in winning their last 4 games straight (something they haven’t done since ’98). Tomorrow they play the Alouettes (6-3), who, without their superstar QB last week lost to BC (2-8) and are without him again tomorrow. If the Ti-Cats are able to get a win that would put them in a tie for first in the East; a feat that they haven’t seen much of in the last few years – I’m optimistic!

New Nikita on CW

I was a massive fan of the TV “La Femme Nikita” and I was pretty excited to find out that there’s a new Nikita series out yesterday on CW. I haven’t watched it yet but I have high hopes!
