For an idea of what my star/number ratings mean in words, here’s an idea:

  • 10 – Phenomenal Movie! Couldn’t be recommended high enough!
  • 9 – Very good movie – I liked it a lot and there’s a good chance that you will too
  • 8 – Quite good movie – I was generally pleased with the movie
  • 7 – Barely a recommendation – On the threshold but still recommended
  • 6 – Not really recommended – I wouldn’t suggest you seek out this film
  • 5 or less – Varying degrees of bad – all not recommendable

    This movie was so disgusting that I turned it off after 30 minutes! The only reason I put this review up is to let you know that it's a very unsatisfying piece of cinema. It got a 1 for cool pictures of old London.

    Weak accents, an anti-climatic ending, American-esque dialogue and it makes you wonder why Americans are making a movie about Russian heroes. Could have been a great movie had it been made by the Russians.

    Great story, better characters, stellar acting in a real cinematic triumph that is not too difficult to watch (although you will need your thinking cap on). An intelligent movie that respects the viewer - an easy 8.

    Ouch - This movie was horrible! I will certainly not be going back for more of this dud; horrible dialogue, and a bazillion plot holes (did I mention the dialogue?!). Very painful to watch, useful only as kitsch.

    My second viewing of the excellent mobster classic. These movies are so well made with so much detail in them and excellent dialogue. Not much action but their words carry enough force to keep you riveted.

    Interesting look at comedians and their struggle for material and fear of presenting it. Seinfeld was funny but way too much of the ego-maniac Orny Adams - grainy photgraphy made this about right for late night CBC

    Vin Diesel is the grisly Gen-X version of James Bond in this high-octane thrill ride. Lots of action, likable characters and the dirty Czechs (grrr) make this a fun show

    Not a bad Trek movie but not a great one either. I couldn't really understand the villian and his bent on destroying Earth but... The fun part is trying to catch Picard's King James Bible quote (hint: 1 Cor).

    After making it through the movie I start to understand the title! The story of the explosion on the U.S.S. Iowa - while it is an interesting story it would have been MUCH better as a documentary or a JAG episode.

    A well made, very well acted, interesting caper-movie. Leonardo plays a young con-artist who makes fake bank cheques and Tom Hanks the Fed who's trying to catch him. A very fun movie to watch with a group.

    An amazing cinematic masterpiece about the lives of Japanese rice farmers and their battle against bandits. The Samurai are so funny, not stoic like they're usually portrayed - very enjoyable!

    The story of a young aspiring writer who gets a contract to write a story on a semi-famous band for Rolling Stone's magazine. The characters are believable and they bring you into their world. Easy 8
